The Combined Joint Operations from the Sea Centre of Excellence (CJOS COE) was established in May 2006. Representing 13 Nations, CJOS is the only Centre of Excellence in the United States, and one of 27 NATO accredited Centres worldwide, representing a collective wealth of international experience, expertise, and best practices.

Foreign National Newcomers:
Official Foreign National (FN) appointees and visitors should initiate a foreign visit request (FVR) through their respective embassies. Though required for foreign travel, NATO travel orders, FN passports and visas are not permissible for physical access to CJOS COE facilities. In addition, NATO issued security badges are not permissible for physical access to CJOS COE facilities. FVR requests should be made well in advance prior to expected day of arrival.
Driving into the Hampton Roads/Norfolk, Virginia Area:
To ensure you have the best driving directions, consult Google Maps or another mapping web site for specific directions to our Headquarters Building (use 1467 Ingram St, Norfolk, VA 23551, not our mailing address). Another commonly-used method is to enter the previous address into your GPS device in your car and follow the directions to CJOS COE.
Flying into the Norfolk, Virginia Area:
Norfolk International Airport has numerous methods of transportation from the airport. You will find a Navy representative on duty in the central lobby area of the airport at the Visitor/Military Information Desk. The booth is manned from 0730 to 2200 hours, seven days a week. The uniformed military personnel have information about all bases in the Hampton Roads area, along with transportation, duty office telephone numbers, and emergency assistance numbers. Directions to CJOS COE from Norfolk International Airport:
Start on Norview Ave, turn right to take I-64 West ramp towards Hampton/Richmond, merge on I-64 West; continue on I-564 West exit #276B, take the Terminal Blvd/VA-406/Hampton Blvd exit, continue on International Terminal Blvd, turn right onto Meredith Street (makes a slight right and becomes Blandy Road), turn left onto Ingram St, and your destination will be on the left. Directions to CJOS COE from Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport:
Head southwest on Bland Blvd toward Peebles Dr. Turn left at Jefferson Avenue. Merge onto I-64 E via the ramp to Hampton/Norfolk. After about 25 miles, take the Granby St/I-564/US-460 exit towards Naval Base, exit #276, merge on I-564 West, take terminal Blvd/VA-406/Hampton Blvd exit, continue on International Terminal Blvd, turn right onto Meredith Street (makes a slight right and becomes Blandy Road), turn left onto Ingram St, and your destination will be on the left. Directions to CJOS COE from Richmond International Airport:
Start on Richard E. Byrd Terminal Drive, bear right on S. Airport Drive, take the I-64 East/Norfolk (I-295 S) ramp towards Rocky Mount, NC, merge on I-64 East (about 78 miles), take the Granby St/I-564/US-460 exit towards Naval Base, exit #276, merge on I-564 West, take terminal Blvd/VA-406/Hampton Blvd exit, continue on International Terminal Blvd, turn right onto Meredith Street (makes a slight right and becomes Blandy Road), turn left onto Ingram St, and your destination will be on the left.
