Maritime Security Regimes Roundtable 2018

Building on where we left off in 2016 the aim of MSR RT 18 will be to achieve a better understanding of the current global MSA environment, examine what is not working, and determine what best practices can be employed across MSRs to globalize MSA. The starting point will be the ‘Findings and Recommendations’ from the ‘Maritime Security Regimes Round Table 2016 Report of Proceedings’ ( The intent is to continue providing a worldwide focus for the roundtable and invite participants from MSRs and other concerned stakeholders representing as wide a global perspective as possible. MSR RT 18 will utilize a panel format, with up to 4 panels over 2 days, along with select guest speakers. We are considering the following provisional sub-themes for panel discussion:

  • Law (Breaking down regulatory barriers)
  • Process (Functional integrity)
  • Shipping Industry Perspective (A cross sectoral approach)
  • Regional Perspective (Harmonizing future regional and international MSA initiatives)

Once a preliminary agenda has been completed, you, or your organization, will receive an official invitation to attend as a panelist or participant. Other logistical and administrative information will also be provided at that time. All current information will be available on the CJOS COE website, so be sure to check it out regularly. For more information, please contact CAPT Dermot Mulholland at or CDR Ricardo Valdes at If there are others in your network who may benefit from this event, please pass this this message on to them, and let us know who they are so we can send them an invitation.
